Program Planning Support for Data Center Consolidation and Other Major Infrastructure Management Initiatives
At the time of the formation of DHS, much of the infrastructure service was being provided by other agencies through shared service agreements or similar vehicles. As the complexity of the DHS mission evolved, numerous changes to the infrastructure were undertaken. A major initiative of this task was the migration of all data center support facilities to a consolidated facility. The DHS Infrastructure Transformation Office (ITO) established a Data Center Project for consolidating the existing Organizational Element (OE) data centers in a rational, cost-effective manner to improve information sharing capabilities. The Project provides information gathering, planning, cost analysis, transition, testing and integration support for other OCIO divisions such as Enterprise Applications, Security, IT Operations and the overall DHS effort for Data Center Consolidation.

InfoZen supported USCIS in the planning and implementation of agency-wide system hosting and migration initiatives, including an agency-wide data center migration plan, support to shared service agreements with other agencies, active directory implementation, secure switch implementation and related logistical plans.

InfoZen Solution
InfoZen provided program management and technical consulting support to the ITO Data Center Project on behalf of USCIS to facilitate a smooth aggregation of information and the eventual transition to a consolidated Data Center state. The assimilation and transition of all USCIS applications testing included the definition of responsibilities, creation of planning documents, definition of support plans, and the related design, development and deployment efforts as per the DHS ITO's directive. InfoZen also provided related documentation, technical, and operational services as needed.

Results
As a result of InfoZen's efforts, USCIS has smoothly planned and executed several critical infrastructure changes. The agency has also benefited from consistent, single-source representation on various DHS boards and committees managing the department-level technology initiatives.
